Colleen M. Martin
Colleen M. Martin, 65, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away July 30, 2023, surrounded by her
loving family. Colleen was born March 20, 1958, in Wilmington, DE, the middle child of five
children, and grew up in Kennett Square, PA. Colleen was married to Barry Martin, who
survives her, for over 42 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret
Leonard. Colleen is survived by her son, Rev. Joe Martin and his wife Lisa of Holly Ridge, NC.
She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Sophia, Amelia, Elesia, and Anastasia Martin,
who were the lights of her life. Her corgi, Annie, misses her “Mom” immensely.
Colleen was a 1976 graduate of Kennett High School and was a proud veteran of the United
States Army, where she was a Military Police Officer. She was also an LPN and enjoyed her
work helping others.
Colleen loved all things Irish and instilled that love in many members of her family. She visited
Ireland four times and often told stories of her trips and adventures. She was truly an “Irish
Princess.”
Colleen is also survived by her siblings, Catherine Leonard (Tony Rosowski), Diane Timoney
(Greg), Margaret Leonard, and Michael Leonard, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and
great nieces and nephews. She never forgot their birthdays and sent all of them beautiful cards
and notes.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated September 16, 2023, at St. Patrick Church in Kennett
Square at 10:00 AM, with burial in the family plot at St. Patrick Cemetery.
